Scam alert: Ignore any private messages or chat requests. What fraud? No charge backs, no payments returned, no issues. I'm not giving some **bleep** company my information for no reason. They had more then enough information to verify me but they have piss poor systems in place to verify someone. They already verified me when they ran my address at account signup and did you all know when you make a payment, inside the ACH information is the account holders name. ![]() For a 1k limit, when I pay in full every month and never had any issues like a charge back etc. Yeah sorry I'm just not wasting my time on such a joke. I did receive a copy of it in the secure messaging system and they wanted 3 documents, Id, utility bill and bank statement or tax return. They said I had to wait for a letter in the mail. To answer everyones question, I had no idea what documents they wanted. I don't know if that was needed but they said they closed my account at my request! And that since comenity is refusing to close my account I'll be filing claims with the fair credit agency and BBB. So I simply sent a secure message stating this is written notification I am requesting to close my account, and to provide written notification my account is closed. When I originally posted this I did some searching and found another post about an issue and the poster got results via their secure messaging system. A lot of people bend over to get their 3% or whatever back. ![]() But that's just me, I'm pushing 50 and have seen too much to just throw my info at anyone who wants it. A couple percent back on some stupid credit card ain't enough for that. It's only a matter of time before that info falls into the wrong hands. I also don't send copies of drivers' licenses, social security cards, fingerprints, facial recognition. I don't even let banks use Plaid or Yodlee to verify external accounts they can use the old "two small deposits" way or no way. Only my banks and I see my bank statements. Only the IRS and myself see my tax documents. I don't let anyone see my tax returns or my bank statements. They can close my accounts, I don't care. Next they'll be asking for birth certificates and DNA reports. If their fancy algorithms can't verifiy my identity the usual way then that's their problem, not mine. I mean that could be the case but that doesn't make it ok. Why else would they be asking for it over a $500 secured card? Just seems like when things like this come around not exactly the same usually there is a bit more to things and sometimes not? Lets truly believe their bizzare trend of asking for 4506-T's is more about identity verification than income verification. Lets see what they have to say as many of us are just guessing until we know more. If they are concerned about fraud and other stuff possibly they have every right to keep it open/froozen while it is investigated if it is regarding tax returns, income etc than they certainly should be able close it. You should be able to close the account, unless funds are owed, etc. I would do what above, Certified mail return receipt. However if just requesting Tax Info, ID, Income info, etc.Īccount should be able to be closed by card owner. If related to fraud, unknown pending transactions, etc.Īccount could be locked pending outcome of an investigation. ![]() Obviously they are not going to let someone make any change until they you know unlock the account. I think this is the highly relevant question, they locked the account on what grounds? Kida documentation did they request? was it tax information / income information or something else of proof of identity etc? ![]()
